Places to see

Fuerteventura is the closest Canary Island to the African coast and is regarded as the oldest of the Canaries. Its vast contours come from various volcanic eruptions (over 7000 years ago). A trip to the neighboring island of Lanzarote is just a quick trip on the ferry. There you will be able to visit the Timanfaya National Park which has its own active volcano!

Water sports are quite popular in Fuerteventura. The island benefits from miles and miles of broad white sandy beaches and golden sand dunes. Each year, hundreds of windsurfers, surfers, and divers come to enjoy the Island. The weather conditions are so good (3000 hours of sunshine per year) that in July the island hosts the Professional Windsurfers Association work windsurfing and speed slalom event.

Oasis Park situated in the south of Fuerteventura is well worth a visit. It a natural paradise - one of the most important projects created to protect and preserve the unique flora and fauna of the Canary Island. The Oasis Park is a great day out which includes a lot of interesting and entertaining shows including a camel safari.
